In response to the present refugee crisis, Khaled Hosseini wrote the brief, poignant, and beautifully illustrated book Sea Prayer, which is written as a letter from a father to his kid on the eve of their journey. The father thinks about their perilous sea voyage while he keeps an eye on his sleeping youngster. It also paints a vivid picture of their pre-war existence in Homs, Syria, and the rapid transition of that city from a peaceful residential area into a terrible battleground. Hosseini was moved to pen this tale by the heartbreaking sight of three-year-old Alan Kurdi, a Syrian kid whose body washed up on a Turkish beach in September 2015; she wants to honour the millions of families like Kurdi's.
