Catalina Martín is in a bind - she needs a date to her sister's wedding, and she needs one fast. She's told her family and friends that she has an American boyfriend, but in reality, she made him up. Now she's trapped in her own lie, and with the wedding approaching, everyone is eager to meet her boyfriend. To make matters worse, her ex and his fiancée will also be at the wedding, making it all the more important that she finds a date.

But finding a date won't be easy. Catalina only has four weeks to find someone willing to fly across the Atlantic and help her out. Her family is notoriously rowdy, and they won't be easy to fool. Just when things seem hopeless, Catalina's colleague Aaron Blackford unexpectedly offers to step in and play the role of her boyfriend.

At first, Catalina is hesitant to accept Aaron's offer. She finds him to be annoying and insufferable, and their working relationship is far from ideal. But as the wedding draws closer, Catalina realizes that Aaron might be her best option. She starts to see a different side of him outside of the office, and she finds herself drawn to him. As the two work together to pull off the charade, Catalina begins to question whether her feelings for Aaron are genuine, or just a result of the stressful situation they find themselves in.
