Blink The Power of Thinking Without Thinking
The author refers to the major topic of his work as "thin-slicing": our capacity to draw conclusions from a relatively small body of knowledge and experience. According to this concept, impulsive decisions are frequently just as excellent as—if not better than—carefully thought-out ones. Gladwell uses a variety of examples from science and medicine, sales and advertising, gambling, speed dating, tennis, military war games, movies, and popular music to support his points. Gladwell also cites other instances of "thin-slicing" that ordinary people have encountered, such as our innate capacity for mind-reading, which enables us to determine someone's feelings simply by observing their face.
